Sweden: record number of taxpayers filing electronicallyApril 5, 2013
On 22 March 2013, the tax authorities (Skatteverket) announced that a record number of taxpayers had filed their tax return electronically.
The electronic tax filing service was opened on 21 March 2013 and already, on its opening day, 590,000 taxpayers logged in, out of which 116,652 also submitted their tax return. This is a significant increase compared with the figures of 2012 when only 69,440 taxpayers filed electronically during the opening day of the service.
The total amount of taxpayers expected to file either electronically or in paper form is 7.6 million.
