IRS issues revised instructions for Form 8621 on PFIC reporting [TAX ALERT]

The Service recently revised Form 8621, Information Return by a Shareholder of a Passive Foreign Investment Company or Qualified Electing Fund (rev. December 2012) and its accompanying instructions.

A US person uses Form 8621 to report a direct or indirect interest in a passive foreign investment company (PFIC) or a qualified electing fund (QEF).
