Mexican Congress takes up bill to reform Social Security Law [TAX ALERT]

June 21, 2013

A bill was recently submitted to the Mexican Congress to reform certain aspects of the Social Security Law (the Proposed Reform).

If enacted, the Proposed Reform could reduce the administrative burden on employers in calculating social security contributions.

However, it could result in an increase in social security contributions that both employers and employees are required to make to the Mexican Social Security Institute (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social or IMSS).
